Indian weddings, also referred to as Hindu wedding or South East Asian weddings, are among the non-traditional wedding seen by our studio.
Although the nuances of a ceremony may vary depending on the region and language, in many cases a traditional Indian wedding will include ceremonies such as the Baraat, the Vidaai (which traditionally takes place after the wedding) A Henna ceremony, which prepares a bride to meet her husband, and is also associates with fertility, and several others, which can expanded over two or more days, with elaborate decorations.
Today couple work hard in combining age old tradition with modern wedding receptions. A ceremony such as the Baraat, in which the Groom will travel to the bride’s home on a horse accompanied by family members, may be difficult when considering the Garden State Parkway in your path. These rich traditions however, are not left by the way side and the Baraat ceremony is something we photograph and videotape for many Indian couples in the New Jersey and tri-state area.
For any westerner invited to a traditional Indian wedding, you will be amazed and enriched by the experience.
