In the first part of this post, I discussed some of the key, common factors which influence the cost of photography for a wedding.

Now let’s roll the cameras!  Well not quite yet. First a little knowledge will not only allow you teo make a better decision when choosing your wedding videographer, but it will allow you to better understand how a production studio will create the cost of your wedding video.

As before, we discussed some of the photography costs, which would roll over into video production costs, such as studio location and size. The staff and their experience but there are additional factors which are considered with regard to video.

Equipment will often play a big role in cost. A professional 3 Chip, Broadcast quality HD camera will run anywhere from $5,000.00 and up. That does not include the cost of additional expenses, such as lighting, microphones, tripods and additional equipment which may be required.

The shopping list does not end there, as the post production equipment is equally important to the outcome of the final product. A professional edit system will cost well over $5,000.00, which does not include the software required for professional, non-linear editing, which can run into the thousands.

With HD in demand, many studio will need to include an HD burner and additional software and equipment, all of which influence cost.

Last but not least, you need the talent and experience of a video editor to put all of your wedding footage together in a story like fashion for you to enjoy.

Damian and Alan, Two Abacus Studios Videographers and Video Editors

Many studios will have to incur the cost of hiring a production company to do all of their video work and some just send out the video to be edited.

If you can, try to find a studio, which offers “in house” video editing and “in house” videographers, such as ABACUS WEDDING STUDIOS.

Our studio ensures our couples that their videographer is both a full time employee of the studio and also a full time editor. This offers couples a unique advantage of having the same person who shot your wedding, also work on your edit.
